Cheryl Hanaway is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She has been working in the field for over 30 years and has specialties in couples counseling, addictions including sexual and gambling, mental health disorders, domestic violence, trauma and divorce issues. She is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and is trained in CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management).
Cheryl graduated from Westminster College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She completed her Master’s Degree in Counseling with a specialization in addictions at Slippery Rock University.
Cheryl is a cancer survivor and participates in several volunteer activities. She is a member of New Life Baptist Church and works at the Food Pantry. She is in the process of training her next Therapy Dog, Gracie, who will be able to accompany her to sessions as requested to help clients who struggle with anxiety. In her spare time, Cheryl enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and 3 rescue dogs.
Her mission statement is to follow God’s word “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.” (2 Corinthians 1:4)

Being a Good Girl
Gracie is my therapy dog in training. She is a 1 ½ year old Shepherd / Jindo mix from the Texas and Mexico border. She is a rescue dog who can’t wait to share her love with those who have had hardships in life much like she has! She is currently recovering from heartworm and will be ready for training and serving soon.
